Recreation
You're never far from top–notch recreation in Southeast Michigan. The
communities of Metropolitan Detroit enjoy a huge network of city,
county, regional, and state parks, not to mention dozens of lakes,
streams, and some of the nation's best golf courses.
Hit the Links
The State of Michigan boasts more golf courses than
any other state, and Southeastern Michigan has some of the finest. With
hundreds of courses to choose from, golfers in can tee off just about
anywhere, just about any time of year (sometimes even a few days in the
winter!)..
Water Wonderland
Four Great Lakes, 11,000 inland lakes, and thousands of miles of
rivers and streams make Michigan a water paradise. Michigan has almost a
million registered watercraft, the most of any state, and about half of
them are used on nearby Lake St. Clair and the Detroit River. Sail,
jet ski, kayak, fish, or sunbathe on a sandy beach and Michigan's water
recreation possibilities are almost endless.
Metroparks
Among the crown jewels of Metro–Detroit's extensive park system are the
thirteen Metroparks,
located throughout the region along the picturesque Huron and Clinton
Rivers. Covering some 24,000 acres, the Metroparks provide a greenbelt
around the Detroit metropolitan area in one of the most extensive
regional park systems in the nation. And the best part is that they're
never more than a short drive away.
Hines Park
Scenic Hines
Drive, part of the Wayne County Parks system, winds for nearly
twenty miles through western Wayne county. Flanked by the Rouge River
and several lakes, Hines Park offers myriads of opportunities to find a
tranquil retreat or a place to play year round. Explore more here.
State Parks

riding, scenic beauty, and more. Check out Maybury State Park in
